I received a call stating that a parcel in my name contained illegal substances and that I would be arrested unless I cooperated. They transferred the call to another person claiming to be from law enforcement. Is this a known scam?

Yes, this is a well-known “Digital Arrest” scam. Scammers impersonate courier companies, police officers, CBI, or other law enforcement agencies and use fear to pressure victims into making payments or sharing personal information.

Real law enforcement agencies do not conduct investigations over phone calls or demand money to avoid arrest.

Do not share any personal details, disconnect the call, and report the incident to the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930).
