Received an email saying someone hacked my device and recorded my private moments. They’re demanding Rs 10,000 or they’ll send the video to my contacts. This feels terrifying. Is this real?
Sextortion scammers almost never have actual footage—they use fear tactics and publicly leaked password lists to seem credible. IMPORTANT: Never pay; it encourages more demands. DO THIS: 1) Block the sender, 2) Don’t engage, 3) Change passwords on all accounts, 4) Enable 2FA on email, 5) Delete the email. CONTACT: File complaint at cybercrime.gov.in with the email/message details + report to your email provider.
