Random guy messaged me on Instagram as “rich businessman.” Sent Rs 1 lakh saying “for you.” Now he’s panicking saying it was meant for someone else and threatening to sue unless I return it to his “business partner’s account.” I didn’t ask for this money!
Scammers send “accidentally” transferred funds to make you complicit in moving stolen money. The money is likely from fraud victims. CRITICAL: Don’t return ANY money to anyone. Keep it untouched as evidence. DO THIS: 1) Block the person, 2) Document all messages with screenshots, 3) Report his Instagram account, 4) Inform your bank about suspicious incoming transfer. CONTACT: Cybercrime.gov.in with chat logs + your bank’s fraud department + file FIR at local police.
