Got WhatsApp message: “Verify your account or it will be deleted in 24 hours. Click here: [link]” from a number I don’t know. The link looks like WhatsApp’s URL. Should I click to save my account?
Scammers send fake verification links that steal your WhatsApp account details or install spyware. WhatsApp never asks you to verify via clicking links in messages. DO THIS: 1) Don’t click the link, 2) Block the sender immediately, 3) Report as spam, 4) Your account is fine—no verification needed, 5) If you clicked: enable 2FA on WhatsApp (Settings > Account > Two-step verification). CONTACT: Report the message to WhatsApp + cybercrime.gov.in + change your WhatsApp password.
