Got a call from “ICICI Lombard” saying my car insurance is expired and I’ll be penalized. They want immediate payment of Rs 8,000 via UPI. My insurance renews automatically. Scam?
FAKE INSURANCE RENEWAL SCAM! Insurers never demand immediate UPI payments via unsolicited calls. DO THIS: Hang up, check your actual insurance status on the insurer’s official app or website, and never share OTPs or UPI PINs with callers. CONTACT: Call your insurer’s official helpline (on your policy document) + report the fraud number at cybercrime.gov.in + Dial 1930.
