Saw an Instagram ad for McDonald’s franchise opportunity. A “representative” messaged me with official branding. I paid Rs 1 lakh as “brand registration fee” but now they’ve stopped responding. Was I scammed?
FAKE FRANCHISE SCAM! Legitimate franchise brands (McDonald’s, KFC etc.) never advertise via Instagram DMs or take registration fees informally. DO THIS: Immediately file a bank dispute for reversal, contact McDonald’s India’s official franchise team to confirm. CONTACT: Report to cybercrime.gov.in + file FIR at local police + notify the brand’s official fraud helpline.
