Unknown caller said my father had a road accident and is in “emergency surgery.” Gave a hospital name and asked for Rs 50,000 immediately via PhonePe for surgery. My father’s phone was unreachable. I was about to transfer!
FAKE EMERGENCY SCAM! Scammers deliberately jam or call at times when the “victim” is unavailable. Hospitals have official billing departments and never cold-call for emergency payments. DO THIS: Hang up, reach your relative through another contact, call the hospital directly on their official number. CONTACT: File complaint at cybercrime.gov.in + report to local police + call 1930.
