A visa consultant claims my application has been approved but says I must immediately pay an additional processing fee to avoid cancellation. They are threatening delays if I do not pay today. Could this be fraudulent?

Yes, it could be a scam. Fraudsters often create urgency by threatening delays or cancellation to pressure victims into making quick payments.

Do not pay immediately. Verify the fee directly through the embassy, consulate, or official visa portal. If the consultant is asking for payment to a personal account or refusing to provide official documentation, treat it as a major red flag.

If you suspect fraud, report it to the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930).
