A man in a CBI uniform appeared on a Zoom call saying my Aadhar is linked to a money laundering case. He said I’m under “digital arrest” and cannot leave home or call anyone until I pay Rs 3 lakhs as “security deposit.” I was terrified for 4 hours. Is this real?
DIGITAL ARREST SCAM — 100% FAKE! There is NO such thing as “digital arrest” under Indian law. No CBI/police officer can legally arrest you via video call or demand money. The uniform, badge, and backdrop are all props. Scammers specifically instruct you not to call anyone to stop you from verifying. DO THIS: Immediately disconnect, call a trusted family member, and verify with your local police station. CONTACT: Call 1930 + file complaint at cybercrime.gov.in + visit nearest police station with all call screenshots.
